Every project is unique and carries a unique set of challenges. Common elements between the projects are management methods. We manage our projects using state-of-the-art management techniques which help us deliver our jobs in accordance with committed parameters. We employ industry-lead tools like Primavera Project Planner for planning and monitoring the projects on Earned Value Management (EVM) system. Continuous application of Dr. Deming’s plan-do-check-act cycle provides course correction throughout the life cycle of the project. Our comprehensive project management knowledge also allows us to act as employer’s agent for managing their projects. In this role we can assist employers in selecting consulting engineers, quantity surveyors, implementation contractors and operation & maintenance contractors and supervise the project implementation process ensuring completion within given budget and schedule, meeting international quality, health, safety and environment standards.
A project, well planned and well mobilized, is half done. We plan top down developing Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and allocating work volumes and resources to different components of WBS. A matching chart of accounts is developed to track expenses and compare actual with earned values. Quantities, man-hours, materials, consumables, subcontract, and equipment & plant costs, etc. are allocated to the lowest level of WBS called Work Package (WP). Several WPs are grouped together to form a Task or Area. Detailed resources loaded schedule is developed using Primavera Project Planner, which identifies time frames for all WPs and Tasks. Schedule is laid out in such a way that allows it’s rolling up through different levels to match corresponding levels of WBs.Cost allocations to work packages and tasks are grouped to develop direct cost budget. Similarly an indirect cost budget is developed identifying all costs required to implement the project. An Organization Breakdown Structure (OBS) is also developed which corresponds to WBS. A supervisor is assigned to every WP and a Task Controller to every Task. These individuals take full responsibility of their part of the project and are accountable for its performance.
WBS, OBS, Budget, Chart of Accounts and Resource Loaded Schedule make basic building blocks of our planning process. These documents fully encompass a project and provide a complete handle to the project team and the management for its successful implementation.
